Does seem strange to hard code it, especially since the AccountWizard just used an .ini file, would think it could have just pulled from that.

I spent a lot of today testing the installer to make sure I did it right. I had to fix about 5 mistakes (ie things not being installed to the right sub folder in the Swat folder).

The Last Resort Launcher doesn't really like Windows 8/10 and was much happier on Windows 7, lol. Some of my Windows API calls don't work as expected on Windows 10. For instance my method to detect all of the 16bit colour modes available doesn't work unless you put the Last Resort Launcher in Windows 7 compatibility mode.

Well, technically it does work fine but because Windows 10 only emulates 16 bit colour mode it screws it all up.

I have added a few new features to help deal with Windows 10's quirks.

i have been creating a new installer of swat3 so the game can be instaled to just naturally connect to neuwon server.

Ive been using your swat3 last resort in the game folder to correct compatibility issues with windows 10.
Hope your not bothered, cause honestly i just want to get this game going as it once was.

Totally depends on what you mean. I don't see a need for you to modify any Last Resort files and to be honest considering how many years I have worked on this project (albeit part time) I am protective of it, lol. If Neuwon works as the maker claims I don't see much need for any special installer like you describe as far as I can tell.

Hmmm, now that I think of it I assume what you are describing is a tool to help make installing Swat 3 a smoother process with Windows 10. I assume your installer will just include many of the usual fixes (ie replacement movie installer, codec installer, Last Resort installer etc). This does make me nervous since it is just a compilation of other people's discoveries, fixes and work. There isn't just one easy fix to make the game work better. Everyone's system is a little different. Personally I also like retaining control over where people download the Last Resort mod so that I can ensure the files haven't been tampered with (as a mod maker if you lose the trust of the public you are done).

The GOG.com Galaxy client is pretty good for installing (and even repairing) Swat 3. A lot of people no longer own the CD version but instead have purchased it via GOG.com's website. It works like Steam and can "verify" your files if something goes bad.

I am waiting to see if Neuwon works as well as we hope. Running a server that is on 24/7 isn't cheap or easy to pull off I imagine. If the server isn't reliable and operate fast people might just stick to LAN games. Depending where the server is people may find LAN games still give them the best ping (someone in New Zealand won't like the ping from an American server). If NeuWon does work well I will release hacked executables for Last Resort that will work with it. I also will redo the 2D menus so that it includes a multiplayer button to use the old style internet mode.

If you have ideas to improve the process please let us know. If anyone has ideas (or files) that are used to help improve the mod I give equal full credit in the ReadMe file.

I presently was already working on improving documentation to help make the install easier. For instance the new Last Resort mod installer gives you tick box options to easily put the Last Resort Launcher into Windows 7 compatibility mode and admin mode when you install it. The last few days I have been working on improving the download page for the mod to clarify the install process and to give tips to make Swat 3 run better.
