Portal recently got the RTX Remix treatment and already seeing people have got this working in SWAT 4, I don't believe any official tools are out which actually let you capture data and modify them but just porting dlls from Portal to SWAT 4 has allowed the use of messing with some of the features.

Most of the information I've found seems to link back to a thread over on Beyond3D.
forum.beyond3d.com/threads/rtx-remix.62991/

Don't know if this is something we'll ever be able to toy with in SWAT 3 though, seems the requires the game to be on DirectX 8 or newer, I'm wondering if using something like dgVoodoo2 would allow it to work though, might need another wrapper since that wraps to DX11? either way be interesting to see where this RTX Remix thing goes for updating older games, though it will require a NVIDIA GPU to make the mods but anyone can run them.

Just noticed not really an "off topic" section in the forums since this was more SWAT 4 related so posted it here.

"RTX Remix is able to capture the textures, geometry, lighting, and cameras thanks to an innovative, custom D3D9 Runtime called the RTX Remix Runtime. Classic games like Morrowind use the D3D9 runtime to send draw calls (rendering instructions) to the GPU. RTX Remix Runtime intercepts those draw calls, interprets them into distinct assets, and reassembles those assets into an identical scene."

Very interesting stuff.

Swat 3 uses DirectX9 but it would a shame if it would conflict with dgvoodoo2's .dll since we need it for framerate issues.

Looks like its now Open Source.

Does SWAT use D3D9? I thought it was DirectDraw/D7? either way thought I'd look at it again, since dgVoodoo converts to D3D11 I believe it is? can't use it, so I was messing with dxwrapper and while at first I wasn't getting anywhere turned out it seemed to be a windowed mode issue, I did have a little success once I switched to fullscreen, I can get into the menus with RTX Remix enabled but it just freezes when loading the map :( so when actually switching to 3D.

Now this could be related to dxwrapper since I can't even get the game to launch with just dxwrapper since it complains about unable to set 2D mode but once I add the RTX Remix D3D9 dll along side it, that error vanishes.

So what I've done, taken ddraw.dll, dxwrapper.dll and dxwrapper.ini" from dxwrapper, in the ini I've set Dd7to9 = 1, EnableDdrawWrapper = 1 and DdrawUseNativeResolution = 1 after that I dropped in the Remix files, maybe a flag in dxwrapper will fix it *shrugs*

The Git page for RTX Remix does mention "While support for D3D9 is included in Remix out of the box, games that use other graphics APIs can also be made to work by utilizing translation layers that target D3D9. You will have to acquire these separately. For example, D3D8 games can be supported through D3D8to9" so just gotta find that magic combo, if there even is one.

Hmm, something broke with the posting, last post it put code blocks around the dll and ini file mentions then I went in and had to view the "source" to take those out and guess I missed a [/code] and well now I can't do any edits on it, at least not with the existing text, imagine I could start over, weird forum bug it seems.

I too saw the post about it being open source and bookmarked it for later. Glad you are doing the experimentation, lol.

Your post did indeed cause a strange forum bug because I can't edit it either.

UPDATE:   You were correct about what caused the forum issue.   You can re-edit your post now.  I guess I better bug report to forum developers.

As far as I know the game uses a combo Direct Draw (for the 2D menus) and DirectX for the 3D portion of the game.

Updated info from Direct Draw Wiki:

With the release of DirectX version 8.0, DirectDraw was merged into a new package called DirectX Graphics, which extended Direct3D with a few DirectDraw API additions. DirectDraw can still be used by programmers, but they must use older DirectX interfaces (DirectX 7 and below).

From pcgamingwiki.com:

a video card is required to be DirectX 6.1 compatible but recommended to be DirectX 8.0a compatible.

I assume this changed with the TGOTY version.   GOG and Steam both say Tactical Game Of The Year version:

3D graphics card compatible with DirectX 7 (compatible with DirectX 9 recommended)

So if it is compatible with DirectX9 does that mean this RTX Remix will work with it or does it really consider it a DirectX7 game?
